Born December 13 , 1871, Emily Carr was a Canadian artist and writer heavily inspired by nature and the way native people lived. Carr didn't get the respect and recognition for her skills and work until long after she grew older. As she matured, the way she did her paintings went from aboriginal themes to landscapes , and , in particular , forest scenes. Carr was also a writer , she was one of the earliest chroniclers of life in British Columbia.
